Corporate Social Responsibility Institution: Anglia Ruskin University Faculty: Lord Ashcroft International Business School Department: Single Tier Structure Level: Postgraduate Study modes: Full time, Part time Course content: Globalisation with its many benefits and material comforts has also brought demands for fast, technology-based, and increasingly alienated patterns of work; the result is increasing levels of stress at work (costing the UK over £10 billion) and high levels of absenteeism; unethical behaviour has caused the collapse of some organisations and the failure of partnerships and mergers within the UK and cross-culturally; management strategies, whilst using terms such as 'empowerment' or 'creative' do little to tackle this evidence of alienation; indeed, critical management research has demonstrated that these strategies contribute to, and may indeed construct, feelings of separateness; the call is out for finding new ways of collaborative working, within organisations, across organisations and across cultures, which enhance, rather than threaten relationship; the Centre has developed a team of people who are making individual and collective contributions to addressing these issues at the level of theory and practice.
