City postgrads win leading computer games development award
Lecturer in Computer Games Technology at City University London, Chris Child, says, "Dare to be Digital is an internationally renowned event for aspiring games developers. The fact that our team's work has been endorsed by fellow competitors through this award is a testament to the high quality, hard work and imagination of City's students." The team was recognised for developing PaperQuest - an adventure game for the Microsoft Kinect, in which the player must fly a paper airship through a 3D origami world, gathering prizes in a limited time. The team comprised Camilo Albarracin, Nicolas Chemin, Mark Foley, Jay Steen and Ben Wilson and was known as Ape-y Eyes. This team from City University London was among 16 teams from universities across the UK, Europe, India and China to travel to the University of Abertay Dundee for nine weeks of workshops with leading games industry professionals.
