The energy systems and thermal processes option is designed to equip graduates and practicing engineers with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental issues of energy thrift and environmental consequences of irrational use of energy resources; it furnishes students with the technical knowledge and skills required for achieving the better management of energy, designing of energy-efficient systems and processes, utilisation of renewable-energy resources and the reduction and control of pollution cost effectively; the course consists of 9 taught modules and a significant research project; the taught element is delivered on a modular basis; students take 8 compulsory modules and select a further 1 from 3 optional modules.
