ESCP Europe Business School
Master in European Business
Course Outline
The Master in European Business (MEB) is a 1-year, 2-country postgraduate programme in management aimed at recent graduates from a non-business background. It allows our students to prepare for a successful business career by acquiring key management skills and a professional mindset in a multicultural environment.
For each of the two semesters, students are based in a different country on one of our five European campuses in London, Berlin, Madrid, and Turin, or at our partner institutions in Thailand, Mexico or India. The choice of countries depends on the participant’s language skills and career ambitions. There is also the possibility to earn a double degree if certain requirements are met.
The MEB offers two intakes. Our September intake offers 35 different study tracks to choose from, including several available entirely in English. Our January intake (MEB-J) offers three study tracks and includes the opportunity to study in Paris, Madrid or Turin in the first semester, followed by the second semester in London. Please note that the MEB-J Turin-London track is taught entirely in English.
The MEB is AMBA accredited in the category of Masters in Business and Management.
Hands-on Approach
The MEB focuses on providing students with a practical, hands-on approach. Participants undertake company consultancy projects in groups during each semester and complete the programme with a 3-month internship. This invaluable experience allows students to develop important job-seeking skills and apply acquired management knowledge and skills to a workplace reality. Amongst the hundreds of corporate partners who have recently sponsored interns are Ernst & Young, Barclays Wealth, Merrill Lynch, Cartier, Estee Lauder and Shopping.com. Each campus has a company relations team supporting students during their search.
What do our students think?
Before coming to ESCP Europe Business School, I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ghent. I have always been interested in the medical world, and therefore continued with a Master in Biomedical Engineering. I graduated in 2009 and decided to continue studying before going into work.
Despite my technical engineering education, I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to go for a technical job. I decided that continuing studying and taking a more business-oriented educational path would be of value to my future career. It would also give me an advantage over other graduating students while the job market was poor.
One of the main reasons I chose ESCP Europe was the possibility of pursuing a one-year Masters in two different countries; aside from the business education, I wanted to improve my foreign languages. Other programmes take more than a year, and other schools mostly concentrate on one country/language. The combination of both in a short time and the multicultural identity of the School in general was what attracted me the most.
A lot of nationalities come together, the majority of which are French, German and Italian. However, there’s no real grouping of nationalities, which is good, and as such friendship groups have a diverse content for the most part. I’ve learned that there are some important differences in how different cultures work (timing, communication etc).
I worked for The Grange Hotels group on a consultancy project which aimed to launch a new guest amenity product line. The project was successfully completed. Aside from myself, the team consisted of French, Hong Kong Chinese, Italian and German students.
It has been an interesting experience until now and certainly worth undertaking. I would recommend challenging yourself by not only following the courses in the language you know the best, but also in a second language. Doing so will greatly improve your language skills.
