Glasgow Caledonian University
The Glasgow School for Business and Society
A new School with a proud heritage
To ensure that we are perfectly placed to meet the needs of a rapidly changing external environment, the School brings together the complementary knowledge and expertise of the former Caledonian Business School and the School of Law and Social Sciences.
The School’s fantastic locations in Glasgow and at GCU London mean we are able to offer students the opportunity to study in two outstanding global cities, Glasgow and London.
Throughout our long history, we have remained faithful to the provision of excellent higher education opportunities that make a positive difference for society and to the lives of individuals, as well as to business and other organisations. The School has an international outlook and is committed to developing partnerships across the world.
Why study here?
The mission of our school is clear and at its core is our commitment to nurturing enterprise, promoting social responsibility and enabling people to fulfil leadership roles in business and/or the community. Students come to us for our knowledge and experience to enhance their career and personal ambitions. Our external partners come to us to find the latest research-led thinking and to access the talent of our students.
Our courses integrate business, law and social sciences to ensure we are well placed to meet the needs of business and society. With over 30 years experience and the highest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rating of any post-1992 University in Scotland (3rd highest in the UK), we offer an outstanding choice of taught and research-based postgraduate degrees.
Join a dynamic research community
Cutting-edge research is central to the School’s mission and it underpins all of its activities. The founding Schools’ research activities resulted in excellent outcomes from the most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2008. Work in Communication, Cultural and Media Studies achieved world class ratings, with Business and Management, Accounting and Finance ranked as internationally excellent. In addition, the research work in History contained high combinations of internationally recognised, excellent and world-leading assessments.
The School is home to a dynamic research community, with students on campuses in Glasgow and London and spread across the globe. Our research programme will enable you to fully equip yourself with the skills you need to gain your Higher Degree and successfully step into your future career as a reflective practitioner and confident researcher.
