Manchester Met Business School in successful partnership with McCann ManchesterManchester Metropolitan University Business School has helped McCann Manchester - the largest marketing communications agency in the North - gain a Gold Award. McCann Manchester is the largest marketing communications agency outside of London. This agency has just scooped Gold from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) for its continuous professional development programme. At a time when economic circumstances have led most companies to cut back on staff development, McCann Manchester was cited in particular for its efforts to upskill staff. Staff at McCann’s Prestbury base are offered a digital marketing Certificate in Postgraduate Education with lectures from Manchester Metropolitan University on planning, PR, account management and digital. The one-year course includes a series of assignments both through group work and individual projects. Patrick Mills, Director of Professional Development at the IPA, said: 'The number of training innovations undertaken, such as the Postgraduate Certificate, developed in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University, is truly impressive.' Meanwhile, Sue Little, Chief Executive Officer at McCann Manchester said: 'We are thrilled to be recognised for our achievements in professional development and strongly believe staff should have the option to further their education whilst in full time work. We have a great partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University both in terms of study progression and work experience placements and we look forward to working together in the future.' David Edmundson-Bird, Director of Executive Programmes at MMUBS said: 'We are delighted to contribute to the success of McCann. We produced a great product for them which gives their staff up-to-the-minute knowledge and a qualification accredited by a leading university.'
