Leadership and Management in Education Institution: Sheffield Hallam University Faculty: Development and Society Department: Single tier structure Level: Postgraduate Study modes: Part time, Full time Course content: This course is ideal if the student holds a position of responsibility in education; it is designed to improve the student's effectiveness as a manager by helping the student to think through wider strategic issues as well as developing their leadership skills; the course is suitable if the student works in nursery, primary and secondary schools; further and higher education; nurse education; local education authorities; the course is made up of five modules and an extended professional project; typically the student chooses from one of three study routes; Route 1: professional learning in the workplace; the enquiring practitioner; developing coaching and mentoring in education or leading and managing organisational change; Route 2 : attributes of effective educational leaders; leading and managing organisational change; developing coaching and mentoring in education; the enquiring practitioner;Route 3: is a study route tailored to individual requirements, for people who join the course with credits gained from another higher education institution; most modules are taught at weekends with Blackboard (an online learning environment), phone and e-mail support; it may be possible to study full-time; the department should be contacted for more details.
