This programme is aimed at those who are more interested in specialising in finance within an economics programme; teaching is provided by both the department of economics and the school of management; by the end of the period of study, it is expected that students have obtained an in-depth understanding of modern economic and finance theory and are capable of using advanced financial quantitative methods to enable them to analyse financial economic problems. Modules Core modules: Economic theory and applications 1; econometrics for economics and finance; theory of financial decision making; economic theory and applications 2; financial econometrics; corporate finance; research methods in economics and finance. Optional modules: International monetary economics; financial derivatives; introduction to quantitative finance; investment management; banking; corporate governance; public economics; financial management for international business; international finance; incentives and performance; international monetary policy and institutions; risk management; financial engineering.
