Black Leadership in White Organisations Institution: University of East London Faculty: School of Social Sciences, Media and Cultural Studies Department: Sociology Level: Postgraduate Study modes: Part time Course content: The programme is aimed at black managers; black is used in an inclusive way to refer to people who experience discrimination based on skin colour; it aims: to provide black managers/leaders an opportunity to improve personal effectiveness and influence within their organisation; to provide opportunities for personal and professional development and confidence building in leadership; to support the emergence of black leadership in white organisations; to increase the number of black leaders; to present and develop ideas of black leadership and an agenda for change; to develop models and frameworks for black leadership; the programme brings together theories about leadership, race and racism, and unconscious processes to enhance the students’ understanding of internal and external blocks and challenges to black leadership.
