University of Hertfordshire launches new Applied Accounting course

This year the University of Hertfordshire Business School has created a new Applied Accounting Masters degree, that will help improve the employability of its students.

As the accounting job market becomes ever more competitive, the need to make your CV stand out becomes even more important. So, to help the University of Hertfordshire Business School graduates get the leading edge, a new MSc in Applied Accounting has been launched this year, with the first cohort of students having commenced their studies in September 2009.

This innovative course is closely linked to the ACCA Professional Stage examinations, and it aims to prepare students for the challenging Professional Level ACCA papers to give students the best opportunity to succeed in them. Although it is important to note that no exemptions are available on completion of the MSc towards the ACCA qualification.

Programme Tutor for the new MSc, Martyn Jones, says, 'There has been a lot of interest in this new programme from students interested in pursuing the ACCA qualification. Whilst maintaining the rigor associated with a conventional Master’s qualification, this new course has the additional advantage that it also helps students to be much better prepared for their subsequent ACCA studies whilst at the same time they will obtain a Master’s qualification, which significantly enhances their employability prospects in a competitive jobs market.'
