This programme is a 3 way partnership: the student, the employer, and the university; much of the learning comes from projects that form part of daily work, which minimises the time spent attending university and ensures that the knowledge gained is relevant to the employer’s business; the programme allows students to set their own objectives, course content and timetable; the university sets the framework for the degree and assesses the students' work, but the students choose what and how to learn and what evidence is delivered for assessment; the university ensures that the students achieve the standard appropriate to the award through a process of learning management; the duration of the course is not tied to the academic calendar but is in the hands of the students; the duration depends on the point at which the students enter the course and their personal circumstances at work and at home; existing training, skills and knowledge can all be accredited as prior learning contributes to the students' award.
